What chance of success do I have if the developer or building contractor of my home is a large company or a Municipal Housing Company?

At owners’ meetings where construction defects have been discussed and the decision whether or not to claim against the developer and the building contractor has been put to the vote, some owners are hesitant about suing large companies, whether private or municipal, with a well-known reputation in Spain, because they think that if numerous complaints to the After-Sales Service have achieved nothing, suing these large companies will not achieve anything either.

But nothing could be further from the truth. There is no need to fear these companies, their legions of dissuasive staff or their lawyers, because bigger towers have fallen, and these lawsuits work just like any other lawsuit.

The most important thing is to have a good, well-argued expert report that includes all the specialist tests needed to determine the origin of the construction defects and that is, of course, well defended by an expert architect with experience in defending his or her report and in criticising the reports of the developer-contractor being sued.
